Español | As we get ready to propel ourselves into April and the showers of spring, AARP-VI remains committed to showering the U.S. Virgin Islands with assistance in improving the wellbeing and quality of life for older Virgin Islanders, those who care for them and also our community as a whole. While the metaphor is a bit “flowery,” the intent holds. AARP is not just for retired people. It is for real people who have real concerns about the world’s growing population of older adults. This includes the territory’s more than 22,000 AARP members, which is an extraordinary demographic because our members are approximately 25 percent of the population.

Español | A notary’s responsibility is to evaluate and scrutinize the authenticity of important documents by witnessing the willingness of signers and ensuring their awareness of documentation. These documents include but are not limited to property deeds, wills and powers of attorney. Here in the U.S. Virgin Islands., notaries public are under the careful watch of the Lieutenant Governor and a recent measure by the 34th Legislature of the U.S. Virgin Islands has now reached Gov. Albert Bryan’s desk and will ensure notaries are more accessible. This is extremely important now that COVID-19 has put an elongated pause on personal interaction. And though the government is slowly lifting mask mandates and other restrictions, there is still a need for caution.

A new law backed by AARP Virgin Islands should help the region alleviate a serious nursing shortage.

Español | Women's History Month may be coming to an end, but AARP-VI will continue to commemorate our heroines who have fearlessly blazed trails to better humanity. We will also continue to advocate for and with women who continue to have influence when it comes to the priorities and concerns of their fellow sisters. AARP-VI understands that the time is now to help women be their best as they face the challenges of independent living, caregiving, mental health, social justice, career advancement, pay, morale and overall wellbeing.
