Join AARP Virginia for a Volunteering Open House!
According to Adult Protective Services (APS), there were 1,016 substantiated cases of financial exploitation in Virginia in 2015. In APS’ review of 76 sample cases they found an average per case loss of $27,782, meaning Virginia could have lost a total of more than $28 million collectively.
With U.S. consumers falling victim to the “technical support scam” in greater numbers than ever before, the AARP Fraud Watch Network today launched an initiative to raise awareness of the scam and educate consumers about how they can protect themselves.

RICHMOND — AARP will sponsor the first Governor’s Conference on Aging in 13 years to identify ways to enhance the health and well-being of Virginians as they age. The Virginia Department for the Aging and Rehabilitative Services will convene the meeting in Richmond May 2-3.
