The AARP Chesapeake Chapter #2165 is disrupting aging. The hot heat of the Summer hasn't stopped the Hampton Roads walking group from meeting every Friday morning at 9:30 am at The Oak Grove Lake Park in Chesapeake. The core and regular participants are from the AARP Chesapeake Chapter #2165 which the President and VP Majorie and Esther respectively have taken the lead in encouraging participation.
A rainy Monday in Northern Virginia did not stop regulars and newcomers from joining AARP Virginia's monthly lunch group at Mylo's Grill in McLean. The lunch group is an opportunity for the community to eat out and enjoy some fellowship.
AARP Virginia encourages everyone to help end senior hunger by giving soup and crackers to the Local Office on Aging (LOA)’s annual Soup for Seniors collection. Contributions will make a huge difference in the lives of your homebound neighbors.
MVLE’s Volunteer Program provides you with an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of those in your community. The talents, skills and interests of volunteers play a valuable role in providing opportunities for individuals with disabilities to build their skills and further engage with their community.
WHY: Millions of seniors in our nation live at or below the poverty line. Help provide a hot meal on a cold day and remind thousands of seniors in need that the community has not forgotten them.
