Fairfax County has announced the availability of a number of affordable one-level condos designed for older adults. The condos are located in a new 55+ community called Crest of Alexandria on Telegraph Road between Kingstowne and Fort Belvoir and close to shopping and other amenities. While the residents of coastal areas in eastern Virginia evacuated as Hurricane Florence approached, and were able to go back home on Friday, it might not be the end of Virginians fleeing the storm.
Join us at the Blacksburg Health and Wellness Fair Wednesday, September 19 from noon- 4:00 p.m. at the Christiansburg Recreation Center. There will be various vendors and VCOM medical students and faculty at the fair and have the opportunity to get your flu shots, health screenings, exhibits on home improvements and more. This event is free and open to the public, and there will be light refreshments.
Always seeking ways to “Serve Not to be Served,” members of Brian Jacks’ AARP VA Roanoke and Lynchburg leadership teams met at Gross and Sons Apple Orchard in Bedford County to glean fallen apples for those in need. This was their first time participating in such an endeavor to support AARP VA’s September focus on hunger. Brian's family joined us in the effort.
