We all think about "What's Next?" but often wonder where to start and how to make it real. That's why AARP Seattle presented our 2014 Life Reimagined speaker series - to help you navigate the next phase of your life.

Thinking ahead... is your home and community a place where you could stay involved with the people and places you love? Or would it hold you hostage if you couldn't drive or get up and down the stairs? Can you afford those important extras out of your retirement savings? And what extras should you plan for? Why should women, in particular, care about these things?

Nearly 14,000 people from around the state joined AARP for a special telephone town hall with Governor Jay Inslee on Feb. 18. We talked to the Governor about this year's legislative session and some of the important budget and policy issues facing our state.

Everyday Behaviors Put Washingtonians at Greater Risk of Tax ID Theft

AARP members are invited to see the classic musical Carousel at the beautiful and historic 5th Avenue Theater in Seattle at a savings of 25%. The show runs February 5th to March 1st and the discount is available for all performances.

AARP donated $35,000 to assist with efforts to rebuild following the American Canyon earthquake in August. California Executive Council member Larry Saxxon presented a contribution of $25,000 to Director Terence P. Mulligan with Napa Valley Community Foundation and $10,000 to Executive Director Elizabeth Hoffman with Rebuilding Together Solano County. The funds are being dedicated to long-term recovery assistance after a magnitude 6.0 earthquake hit Sonoma and Solano counties in Northern California on Sunday, August 24 – the largest earthquake to hit the area in 25 years.

It gives us great pleasure to announce the appointment of Patricia Pérez as California’s new State President and leader of our Executive Council. This position is the top volunteer role in California. Patricia will guide our team of leadership volunteers to shape and execute our organization’s statewide priorities. The appointment was made by Carlos Brandenburg, AARP's West Region Volunteer Director.
