As of November 1, 2025, millions of Americans may not receive their monthly food benefits through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) due to the ongoing federal government shutdown. In Wyoming, Governor Gordon has declared a public welfare emergency to ensure that food assistance continues (for now), but this can still put pressure on local organizations and food banks dedicated to feeding hungry Wyomingites.

The impacts of the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic have been felt across the globe, including the Cowboy State. As of late June, over 1,200 Wyomingites had been diagnosed with or assumed to have COVID-19 with 20 of those cases resulting in death. Another 900 had recovered.
As the COVID-19 Pandemic has continued to spread across the United States, so too, has the number of scammers who are using the pandemic to steal people’s money. On July 2 at 11 a.m., AARP Wyoming hosts a free FraudWatch webinar offering an overview of scams taking place in Wyoming and around the country.
Insurance companies will have a more difficult time raising premiums for long-term care, thanks to a state law that took effect on July 1.
