There are 126,109 people in Wyoming counting on the Social Security they’ve earned to be there when they need it. Seventy-eight percent of those beneficiaries in Wyoming are retired workers with 12% disabled workers, and 7.4% receiving spousal or survivor benefits. Laramie County has the state’s highest number of beneficiaries at 20,655, followed by Natrona (16,835), Park (8,820), and Sheridan (8,285) Counties.
The names of the first 10 Medicare drugs whose prices the federal government will negotiate directly with manufacturers were released Aug. 29. Popular but pricey blood thinners, diabetes medications, cancer treatments make historic list.

AARP Wyoming will have a presence at University of Wyoming football games this fall with a booth at pre-game tailgate events in the University’s Indoor Practice Facility. AARP volunteers will be staffing the booth and sharing information with the public at pregame tailgates
Tanya Johnson will join AARP Wyoming as the organization’s Associate State Director for Outreach and Local Advocacy on Sept. 24. Johnson comes to the AARP Wyoming state office from the City of Casper where she worked for the City Manager and City Council as well as the Municipal Court.

The second meeting of the Wyoming Retirement Security Task Force will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Aug. 13 in the State AARP offices at 2020 Carey Ave, Mezzanine Level. The meeting is open to the public.
