As noted in the January 29 OVE Update, a 30-minute volunteer orientation is now available to all volunteers through the Volunteer Portal. This interactive resource highlights some of AARP's important history, policies and operations. Volunteer can find it by clicking on their Training Tab and selecting "Get to Know AARP."
AARP BELIEVES NO ONE’S POSSIBILITIES SHOULD EVER BE LIMITED BY THEIR AGE and seeks to find new solutions that will enable more people to live and age as they choose. One way AARP pursues this mission is through advocacy at the state and local levels led by teams of staff and volunteers in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. AARP in the States 2019 provides an overview of the key issues that AARP will be advancing in states across the country in 2019. Every AARP state office will advocate on one or more of these issues along with other priorities that are of particular importance to older adults in their communities.
AARP is launching a multi-year campaign to lower Rx prices for all Americans. We are working to put a human face on the campaign by featuring videos and online stories about people who are having difficulties affording their prescriptions. The plan is to launch the campaign in March, so we’re in a rush to collect these stories. The only criteria is having Rx costs the person is struggling to afford. If you know someone who has a story, please contact Allison Beatty (ABeatty@aarp.org).
