AARP, teaming up with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), will host an “encore entrepreneur” events statewide during the month of April. The first event will be held in Dover on Friday, April 5. The event will be held at Delaware State University, Bank of America Building, Room 309, from 9:30 am – 12:30 pm.
Our elected officials in Washington are considering adopting "chained CPI" as part of a budget deal, and AARP has created a new online calculator to show Americans how much they would lose if our legislators changed the way the cost-of-living adjustment is calculated for Social Security and veteran's benefits. By entering their age and estimated annual benefit, users can see how much less they would receive over the years if chained CPI is adopted.

AARP’s Public Policy Institute has released The Middle Class Security Project, a report comprised of eight research initiatives funded or conducted by the Institute. The report focuses on strengthening the financial security of the Middle Class as they age and highlights significant problems faced by this group. AARP CEO Barry Rand spoke about the organization’s efforts regarding this issue at the National Press Club on Jan. 15, 2013.
