Would you like to help struggling older adults put healthy food on their tables in Oregon? In partnership with the New York City Coalition Against Hunger, AARP Foundation is seeking an AmeriCorps VISTA to work out of the AARP Oregon office in Clackamas. This is a one-year, full-time position beginning November 2014.

Clackamas, Oregon -- Jonathan (Jon) Bartholomew has been selected AARP Oregon’s ASD for Advocacy, announced State Director Jerry Cohen. Jon will replace Rick Bennett who is retiring from the position at the end of August.
The World Forestry Center will host the third annual Lumberjack Breakfast on Sunday, September 7. Taking place under the tented plaza on the World Forestry Center campus, attendees will be served up plenty o' pancakes with a loaded toppings bar, eggs, sausage, bacon and more. There will also be entertainment, music, games, trivia and prizes for the kids!

Oregon AARP member, Kathi Gladson, tears up when she talks about her grandkids. Like all proud grandmothers, she gushes about her beloved grandchildren’s playfulness, laughter, and how hard they work to keep up in school. Her relationship with her grandkids is unique; they have come into her life through Morrison Child and Family Services’ Therapeutic Foster Care Program.
“Which shoes,” the caregiver asks, as she comes to the final step in getting me up and dressed.
While Oregon’s job growth has increased 3% in the last six months, for laid-off or otherwise unemployed workers 50 years of age and older, the prospects for employment are still dismal.
