Español From the classic celebration of Mexico and the Central American countries’ independence day, the presentation of an AARP financial study about the economic situation of Californians, to our association with the popular soccer team LA Galaxy; AARP in Los Angeles has prepared several events to celebrate our contributions as Latinos in this society and also to provide you with tools that will help you make your life a better experience. All our events are free, but in some of them you must sign up in advance. Please notice that some events are in Spanish only.

This past Spring AARP published data that revealed the financial plans of California Gen Xers and Baby Boomers and how prepared they are for their financial future. The survey, entitled “ California Dreaming…or Struggling: Gen X and Boomer Financial Security,” reveals that for the most part Californians are not ready for retirement; and while they remain optimistic, many are struggling with issues of housing affordability and difficulty in saving for retirement. In an effort to combat these statistics, AARP California is sharing tips and tools, bi-weekly on social media that can help you start living your California dream. Here is a summary of what was shared in July!

Español. On Saturday, July 29 AARP in Los Angeles is pleased to sponsor the presentation of the movie “FRIDA” at LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes, celebrating 15 years since the 2002 Oscar-Winning film was screen for the first time.
AARP has numerous resources available to help individuals make a difference in making their communities for livable for residents of ALL ages. Below you will find descriptions and links to some of these resources.
This is a fundamental question that many fail to ask. AARP’s FREE HomeFit workshops offer tips and ideas to make sure you can continue living in your home as you age. You’ll learn about simple modifications, such as installing bar handles in bathrooms -- that can help prevent falls and other injuries, which become more likely as both houses and their inhabitants age. The workshop comes with the AARP HomeFit Guide, which offers advice on simple fixes that you can do yourself, as well as improvements that professionals can make.
