In May, the Ojai Valley Museum, Ventura County Arts Council, and the Gables of Ojai collaborated on a poetry competition for adults 55-plus in their community in honor of Dr Ethel Percy Andrus, founder of AARP and Grey Gables in Ojai.
Lincoln High School graduate, Jason Lim, has been selected as the recipient of the 2023 Andrus Opportunity Award for Community. The award, which recognizes exemplary achievement and drive, is given to a college-bound graduating senior along with a $5,000 scholarship. Jason Nim is the eleventh student to receive the Andrus Opportunity Award.

Lillian Adams is a board member and former president of the North County African American Women’s Association in San Diego. NCAAWA is dedicated to providing a support network through education, health awareness, and life skills programs for women and girls in San Diego North County to increase their self-sufficiency.
