Michael brings more than 35 years of experience in leading diverse teams within AARP at the local, state, and national levels in pursuit of the Association’s mission to enhance the quality of life for all as they age.
With 3.2 million members in California, AARP California strengthens communities and advocates for what matters most to older Californians and their families, including health security, financial stability and personal fulfillment.

Español. On Saturday, July 29 AARP in Los Angeles is pleased to sponsor the presentation of the movie “FRIDA” at LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes, celebrating 15 years since the 2002 Oscar-Winning film was screen for the first time.
AARP has numerous resources available to help individuals make a difference in making their communities for livable for residents of ALL ages. Below you will find descriptions and links to some of these resources.
This is a fundamental question that many fail to ask. AARP’s FREE HomeFit workshops offer tips and ideas to make sure you can continue living in your home as you age. You’ll learn about simple modifications, such as installing bar handles in bathrooms -- that can help prevent falls and other injuries, which become more likely as both houses and their inhabitants age. The workshop comes with the AARP HomeFit Guide, which offers advice on simple fixes that you can do yourself, as well as improvements that professionals can make.
En Español On Thursday, June 8th, 2017, Abraham Lincoln High School graduate, Priscilla Velez, was selected as the recipient of this year’s Andrus Opportunity Award along with $5,000 to help her pay for her education. The award is named after AARP founder Dr. Ethel Percy Andrus, who served as principal of Lincoln High from 1916 to 1944.
On Tuesday, June 6, AARP formally welcomed the City of Novato into AARP’s Network of Age-Friendly Communities. AARP California Associate State Director of Community, Rafi Nazarians, presented the City of Novato with the official certificate of membership during the City Council’s general session.
What would major streets in Los Angeles County look like without motor vehicles? It’s hard to imagine, but on June 11 th you can experience a day of car-free streets in Glendale.
