Scammers Increasingly Using Cryptocurrency ATMs in South Carolina
The kiosks—often located in gas stations, groceries or convenience stores—convert cash into difficult-to-trace digital currency. Growth in such scams has led to calls for legislation to better protect South Carolina consumers.

AARP is urging state lawmakers to expand Michigan’s Homestead Property Tax Credit. The credit, which was claimed by 27 percent of all Michigan households in 2023, provides a state-tax refund for qualifying homeowners based on factors such as household income and a home’s taxable value. Renters can claim the credit, too, on the assumption that a portion of property tax is passed on to them in rent.

Lawmakers are expected to debate the Colorado AI Act, which requires companies that use artificial intelligence to follow guidelines to protect consumers. In 2024, Colorado became the first state to enact a comprehensive AI law. However, its implementation was delayed following complaints from about 200 technology executives and venture capitalists.
