As of November 1, 2025, millions of Americans—including many older Texans—may not receive their monthly food benefits through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) due to the ongoing federal government shutdown. This disruption affects individuals living on fixed incomes, many of whom rely on SNAP to afford groceries and maintain their health.

ASHEVILLE, NC — AARP North Carolina has released a powerful new video, “Rebuilding with an Age-Friendly Lens.” Just under four minutes long, the video showcases the voices and visions of community leaders working to ensure older adults are not left behind in the wake of Hurricane Helene’s devastation.
AARP Massachusetts State Director Jen Benson testified in favor of a bill that will help the 1.4 million family caregivers in Massachusetts with a $1500 tax credit, work place protection, respite vouchers and allowing spouses to be paid as a caregiver among other provisions.
