Staffers from AARP Colorado will be sharing information about livable communities and volunteer opportunities during this year’s Denver PrideFest weekend, June 15-16.
The annual Andrus Award is the highest honor a volunteer can receive from AARP. This award, as well as awards in a number of significant community categories, honors those who make a powerful difference in their community.

AARP Colorado is hosting an event to help support caregivers and provide them with the information they need on a variety of topics, such as local community resources and medical options.
The AARP® Purpose Prize® Award deadline is March 31. Up to five $60K winners will be announced. The focus is on people age 50-plus whose work solves social problems, improves communities and gives back.

AARP has opened applications for the 2019 AARP Community Challenge grant program to fund “quick-action” projects that spark change across the country. Now in its third year, the program is part of AARP’s nationwide work on Livable Communities. Grants can range from several hundred dollars for small, short-term activities to several thousand dollars for larger projects.
AARP Foundation Tax-Aide is looking to expand its team of volunteers for the upcoming tax season. Tax-Aide, now in its 51 st year, offers free in-person preparation and assistance to anyone, especially those 50 and older, who can’t afford a tax preparation service. Volunteers make a difference in their communities by assisting many older, lower-income taxpayers, and their families, who might otherwise miss out on the tax credits and deductions they’ve earned.
