Andrus Award for Community Service Honors Outstanding Volunteers Age 50-Plus

AARP Connecticut is offering a variety of virtual events from aquarium tours to fraud courses to help older adults stay connected during the coronavirus pandemic.

AARP Connecticut is pleased that the State has convened a Nursing Home and Assisted Living Oversight Working Group to discuss the impact of COVID-19 and how to protect residents moving forward. However, we are very disappointed that this working group, despite having 34 members, does not include a single person who resides in a nursing home or assisted living facility, or who receives long-term supports and services in a community setting.

We may be physically apart, but AARP continues to provide valuable information and resources in communities across Connecticut through a wide variety of free educational and fun online events, including our weekly Webinar Wednesday series.

AARP CT Livable Communities Grant Request for Proposal

AARP Connecticut invites you to join us for free virtual events at two of our state’s top destinations, Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo and Mystic Aquarium. Throughout the month of October, join us for eight free webinars – four from each location – to hear interesting stories and learn more about animal health, wellness, enrichment, and research.

More Connecticut voters can cast their ballots safely amid the coronavirus pandemic, thanks to a new law that temporarily eases absentee-voting restrictions.

Today, AARP announced three Connecticut entities will receive 2020 Community Challenge grants – part of the largest number of grantees to date with more than $2.4 million awarded among 184 organizations nationwide. Grantees will implement “quick-action” projects to create more livable communities across all 50 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
