Beginning in February and continuing until the end of tax season, AARP Foundation is providing complimentary IRS certified tax preparation in Idaho through its Tax-Aide program. You do not need to be an AARP member to use this service.

The 2017 Idaho Legislature has finally adjourned “sine die!” AARP Idaho was at the Capitol the last three months working on your behalf. Many of our members were working with us, both at the Capitol and from their computers, helping to get our voice heard.

As part of the fight against fraud and identity theft, AARP Idaho is offering a FREE shredding opportunity on April 1, 2017 at Expo Idaho. The event takes place from 10am to 2pm or until the trucks are full. You can see the exact location of the trucks HERE. There’s no limit on the number of bags or boxes but shredding services are for personal documents only.

Many low-income homeowners in Idaho are leaving money on the table by failing to take advantage of a property-tax break. AARP research shows that fewer than half of those eligible for the state’s property-tax-reduction program actually apply for it.
A family caregiver may be a parent caring for a child with serious medical issues, or a young adult taking care of a grandparent with a heart condition. A caregiver may be a sister caring for a brother with schizophrenia, or a husband supporting and caring for a wife with dementia. Often, caregiving involves a combination of roles - everything from a simple trip to the grocery store or a medical appointment - to 24/7 care involving medication administration or comoplex medical services.
