AARP Nebraska’s team of Hastings volunteers is joining forces with Mary Lanning Healthcare to host a Care to Share mobility medical equipment drive on June 16. The drive will be held at Mary Lanning Healthcare, 715 North St. Joseph Avenue from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
On April 25, AARP Nebraska leaders and volunteers visited Capitol Hill to urge their elected representatives to make permanent the 7.5 percent medical expense tax deduction threshold, protect and strengthen the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), and support family caregivers by joining the Assisting Caregivers Today (ACT) Caucus.
AARP Nebraska is seeking nominations for the 2018 AARP State Andrus Award for Community Service, which honors age 50-plus Nebraskans who are sharing their experience, talent and skills to enrich the lives of their community members.
Join AARP Nebraska on January 16th, 2018 for a presentation on the "Past and Present Hastings". The one hour presentation will begin at 1:00 PM and speaker, Elizabeth Spilinek, will take questions after the presentation. Spilinek is the Executive Director of Adams County Society and will use her knowledge of Hastings' architecture to tell the story of the people, places and events that shaped Hastings.

AARP is currently recruiting a volunteer Driver Safety State Coordinator for Nebraska. The Driver Safety State Coordinator recruits, manages, coaches, motivates and provides direction to other Driver Safety volunteers at the local level to facilitate state-wide growth.
AARP Foundation Tax-Aide is looking to expand its team of volunteers for the upcoming tax season. Approaching its 50 th year, Tax-Aide offers free tax filing help to anyone, especially those 50 and older, who can’t afford a tax preparation service. Tax-Aide volunteers make a difference in their communities by assisting many older, lower-income taxpayers who might otherwise miss out on the credits and deductions they are due.
The AARP Foundation Tax-Aide Program is looking to expand its team of volunteers for the upcoming tax season by recruiting interested individuals across Nebraska. Tax-Aide is an AARP Foundation program that offers free tax filing help for those who need it most, especially adults 50 and older.
David Holmquist of Omaha has been named the new volunteer state president of AARP Nebraska.
Suzy Campbell, a long-time community volunteer from Lincoln championing the needs of family caregivers, has been selected to receive AARP Nebraska’s highest volunteer award. She is the 15th volunteer to be honored with the annual AARP Nebraska Andrus Award for Community Service since 2002.
