In commemoration of the 50 years since the historic passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1968 and the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., AARP New York invites you to join “Black Women Who Lead”, a conversation about the leadership of black women, then and now, on April 11th at the Schomburg Center in Harlem.
AARP would like to Congratulate Alan Lichtenthal from Town of Oyster Bay team, as this year's Advocate of the Year volunteer award.
AARP joined Broadway stars Lin-Manuel Miranda and John Leguizamo at Viva Broadway, a free outdoor celebration kicking off Hispanic Heritage Month and sponsored by AARP New York. The program, held in Duffy Square, included appearances and performances from current and past Broadway stars including Ana Villafañe (On Your Feet!), Rodney Ingram (The Phantom of the Opera), Emma Pfaeffle (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) and Mandy Gonzalez (Hamilton). The event coincides with Broadway Week, the semi-annual promotion that offers two-for-one tickets to participating Broadway shows.
AARP New York Announces Funding for Three Quick Action Community Projects
Hey sports fans, come hang out with AARP and enjoy live music at the iHeart Mets Jam Music Festival on Saturday, September 9, 2017 from noon to 4 pm. You and your family can get autographs from your favorite Mets players and take advantage of the home run derby, the speed pitch, and the batting cage—all for FREE. To attend, be sure to get a Meet & Greet pass at the Central Park SummerStage entrance (Enter the park at E 72nd Street & 5th Avenue) where the event will take place.
Do you love to read? Have you ever visited the famous NYC bookstore, The Strand? Well if you have or if you haven’t, stop by sometime during this very special year – The Strand turned 90! As part of the celebration, The Strand is asking customers to submit their photos from the last 90 years.
