AARP is launching a nationwide movement, I Am A Caregiver. To many lawmakers, America’s millions of caregivers are invisible. Yet, these family caregivers hold up a broken long-term care system, which is why AARP is looking for your help.

AARP Illinois and the Alzheimer’s Association Illinois Chapter are partnering to present a five-part virtual series offering valuable information and skills for caregivers of individuals caring for individuals with Alzheimer’s or other dementias. Each session will cover key topics such as communication, behavior management, care planning, safety, and person-centered caregiving approaches to support caregivers at every stage of their journey. Honoring Everyday Excellence in our Communities
We know that it takes time to build great communities, but we also believe that tangible improvements can spark long-term change. AARP launched the Community Challenge grant program in 2017 to fund projects that build momentum to improve livability nationwide. Challenge grants have funded more than 20 projects in Tennessee, so we took a closer look at three success stories to learn more about how recipients leveraged grant funds to make a positive impact on both the organizations and their communities. We interviewed Jazmine Leblanc from ELLA Library in Chattanooga, Marlon Foster from Knowledge Quest in Memphis, and Danielle Kaminsky from Robertson County Schools in Springfield.
