Chicago, IL. – Illinois consumers, businesses, cities and state taxpayers all could score a big win in the 2018 Illinois legislative session if state Senate leaders allow a vote on legislation to rein in unpredictable, skyrocketing prices in generic and off-patent medications, according to AARP Illinois and the former mayor of a northern Illinois city recently featured on “60 Minutes.”
ASHEVILLE – At a regional fraud prevention event held by elder advocates across the Mountain Region, AARP volunteer Betsy Cantrell was presented with the AARP Andrus Award for her outstanding contributions to improving the lives of adults as they age.
AARP believes that no one’s possibilities should ever be limited by their age and seeks to find new solutions so that more people can live and age as they choose. In just the past four months, with the support of AARP members, advocacy volunteers and coalition partners we have achieved noteworthy success on behalf of our 1.3 million Garden State members. AARP members and volunteers have made thousands of calls, sent almost 6,000 emails, conducted numerous legislative visits with our elected representatives and organized two lobby days at the New Jersey State Capitol. Your actions demonstrate the power of AARP are the secret sauce to achieving positive change in the lives of not only the 50 plus, but for all New Jerseyans.
We apologize for the inconvenience. Please contact Don Fears, dfears@aarp.org, if you have any questions.
RaeAnn Johnson of Grand Forks and Cindy Yale of Burlington have been appointed to the AARP North Dakota Executive Council.
We want to thank our partners WFXG FOX 54, Georgia Bikes, Central Savannah River Area Regional Commission, Augusta Warrior Project, Shiloh Comprehensive Community Center, The Kiwanis Club of Uptown Augusta and our wonderful volunteers for a successful event. We hope you enjoy the rebroadcast of our livestream! Special thanks to our moderator, CE Huffman from WFXG.
