March has been a busy month for the staff and volunteers of AARP Pennsylvania! As the weather started to warm up, so did our community outreach efforts. Here are a few highlights of our recent activities in Philadelphia and the surrounding counties:
Every 2 seconds, someone’s identity gets stolen. That’s why AARP launched the Fraud Watch Network – to arm people of all ages with the tools they need to spot and avoid scams.
AARP Kansas is now in a new location in Topeka. In October 2015, the office was relocated to space on the southwest side of the city. The new address is 6220 SW 29 th Street, Suite 300, Topeka, Kansas 66614. The building is shared with the Community Blood Bank.
Are you an unpaid family caregiver providing care for a relative with Brain Injury in your household? Learn how to apply to receive up to $400 in reimbursement payments to purchase respite services. The $400 voucher allows caregivers to pay for respite, giving caregivers a temporary break from the ongoing stress of providing in-home care.

Join AARP for free hands-on workshops for those who want to get the most out of their Android Smartphones. All participants will get hands on experience with their Android Smartphones as well as a free touchscreen stylus pen. Registrants must bring their own Android Smartphone or pad to get the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) experience. These AARP events are fun and free, but seating is limited
Trained volunteers are available throughout Kansas from now until April 15 to help taxpayers prepare their tax returns. AARP Foundation is again providing free tax assistance and preparation for taxpayers with low to moderate income through the AARP Foundation Tax-Aide program. AARP Foundation Tax-Aide, in its 48th year, is the nation’s largest free tax assistance and preparation service, giving special attention the older population. You do not need to be a member of AARP or a retiree to use this service.
The Old Dominion is getting older. Nearly a fifth of Virginia residents will be 65 and older by 2030, according to the federal government, and about 250,000 will be 85 and older. That’s why AARP Virginia wants members to know about SeniorNavigator, a nonprofit organization that provides free, useful information for older Virginians, people with disabilities and family caregivers.
