As the days and nights get colder, some low-income North Dakotans may find the increase in home heating costs beyond what their budget can handle. The North Dakota Department of Human Services is reminding low-income individuals, families, and seniors that help is available through the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). Applications are now being accepted at county social service offices in North Dakota.
While using cash or a debit card to pay for purchases prevents tacked-on interest charges and helps you to stay on budget, you should still pay with credit cards this holiday season because they are the most protective payment choice.

The expectation of a comfortable retirement is no longer a reality for far too many Americans. Instead, millions of people face the risk of running out of savings after they retire. While research shows individuals are over 15 times more likely to save for retirement if the employer offers a plan than if they must find an IRA on their own, more than 1.7 million Georgians do not have a way to save for retirement at work [i]. AARP is promoting a commonsense solution that would help people build their own private retirement savings so they can take charge of their future and live independently as they age.
AARP Foundation Tax-Aide, the nation’s largest free, volunteer-run tax preparation and assistance service, is seeking volunteer tax preparers in the Lansing area to help residents who are seeking assistance preparing and filing their 2015 returns.
The upcoming 2016 legislative session in Maryland has AARP fighting for many important issues that affect 50+ Marylanders--including retirement security and protection for caregivers. In order to be successful in this fight, we need the support of our nearly 880,000 members statewide!
