The legislation would let natural gas utilities raise rates repeatedly -without close oversight for five years - and rates would go up as much as $500 million! Gov. Jay Nixon has until Friday of this week, July 12, 2013, to veto Senate Bill (SB) 240 which modifies ratemaking provisions for gas coporations. If the governor DOES NOT veto this legislation, gas utilities could raise rates repeatedly without close oversight for five years that could cost Missourians as much as $500 million!
