Every veteran deserves to be honored for their service and sacrifice. Wish of a Lifetime from AARP Wyoming celebrates veterans 65 and older with a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Washington, D.C., to see the monuments and memorials built to honor their service and sacrifice. Over four days, the veterans develop meaningful connections as they share unforgettable moments while reflecting upon their service to our country.

Callie Tuschen is a local business owner in Hartford, SD. She also serves as president of Downtown Hartford, Inc., and is passionate about working to make her community even better.

When it comes to out-of-this-world community commitment, it doesn’t get any better than AARP Houston and the World Champion Houston Astros. Thousands of fans saw that firsthand during this year’s Hispanic Heritage Weekend at Minute Maid Park. AARP Houston volunteers and staff were in full force during the three-day event, September 22, 23, and 24, which gave fans a taste of who AARP is and why we do what we do.

Know of a St. Louis bus stop that’s in need of an overhaul? AARP in St. Louis, a sponsor of the Build a Better Bus Stop campaign by the nonprofit Citizens for Modern Transit, seeks nominations for its next transit transformation.

AARP has awarded Community Challenge grants to six organizations across Maryland. The projects, which fund community gardens, accessible bus stations and more, are slated for completion by November 30.

Ten entities in New York won AARP Community Challenge grants, totaling $96,000. The grants are part of AARP’s Livable Communities initiative; they fund quick-turnaround projects aimed at making areas more livable for people of all ages.
