During our time in Annapolis, we attend delegation meetings, which take place every Friday during the legislative session, and chat with lawmakers to make direct contact with delegates and local leaders from every county. BILL STATUS UPDATE: House Bill 1087 passed the House on Feb. 21 (see AARP Statement) on a vote of 63-33. It passed the Senate on April 16 on a vote of 26-22 (see AARP Statement). The House concurred with Senate amendments on April 23, clearing the way for Governor Inslee's signature.

AARP, the nation’s strongest voice for people age 50 and older, has endorsed legislation to help provide Nebraskans with the workplace flexibility they need to care for their loved ones without putting their jobs and finances in jeopardy.

After nearly two decades of implementing legislative and regulatory policies, it is time to provide consumers with the ultimate protection from the confusing – often abusive and illegal – marketing tactics of third-party electric suppliers. Consumer Counsel Elin Swanson Katz, in collaboration with AARP and other consumer advocates, as well as U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal, called for the end of the third-party residential electric market that economically harms consumers at a press conference today.

Ellen Schafer of Bismarck has been appointed to the AARP North Dakota Executive Council, and Dr. Michael Worner of Fargo has been reappointed to the Executive Council for a second two-year term.

(Ridgeland, MS) - AARP Mississippi applauds the Mississippi Legislature for passing House Bill 366, The Mississippi Broadband Enabling Act. The legislation was signed into law by Governor Phil Bryant today.

AARP Foundation and AARP Florida announced Monday that 11 North Florida organizations have received $905,000 to benefit Floridians 50-plus who were hard hit by Hurricane Michael in October 2018.
