Need help with a basic tax return or amendment? Tax Aide volunteers provide free tax help to low- to middle-income Alaskans of all ages at sites across the state. (No need to be an AARP member.) They can also help with past-due returns, back to 2015.

It’s hard to think about death, whether your own or that of a loved one. But in planning and paying for a final farewell, it’s important to think clearly and be wary: Some unscrupulous operators take advantage of families’ most trying times for their own monetary gain.

Another year, another highly successful tax-filing season for the AARP Tax-Aide program! Thanks to the commitment of our volunteers, tens of thousands of Wisconsinites received tax assistance free of charge.

The Iowa Senate unanimously passed the 2019 Iowa CARE Act (SF 210) today by a vote of 49-0. The CARE (Caregiver Advise, Record and Enable) Act outlines commonsense steps to help Iowa’s more than 317,000 family caregivers when their loved one goes into the hospital and as they transition home.

It’s unfair that Americans pay the highest prescription drug prices in the world. We must crack down on price gouging and the greedy practices that keep prices artificially high. It’s time our leaders stick up for people 50+ and their families.

Amy Goyer, a nationally known expert on aging and families for AARP, will visit Nebraska April 24-25 to share her personal caregiving journey at AARP events in Lincoln and Omaha and the annual Day of Caring in Hastings.

Mary Louse Embrey’s 94-year old father was an active family man. When a variety of health conditions got the best of him, caring for him became complicated. He wanted to stay in his own home, which the whole family fully embraced and made happen. Soon enough, Mary Louise became challenged by balancing her work schedule and family life while helping to care for her two young children.
