Veterans

Serving in the military is giving yourself to something greater than your own wants and needs. This selflessness protects and serves us all. And while Julia Castellano-Hoyt of San Antonio may not have served in the Women’s Army Corps since 1961, she never stopped having a heart for serving others. To Julia, military service instills a desire to give back throughout one’s life.
AARP Michigan recognizes and supports our veterans
The Bayou State is home to about 287,000 military veterans, and AARP Louisiana is committed to listening to them and understanding their needs.
AARP Mississippi is inviting all Veterans in the area to attend the AARP Veterans Town Hall on Friday, June 8, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Lady Luck Casino Arena, 1380 Warrenton Road in Vicksburg. The event is free. Veterans may bring one guest. Lunch will be served.
AARP is now accepting nominations for its 2018 Mississippi Andrus Award for Community Service, which honors 50+ Mississippians who are sharing their experience, talent, and skills to enrich the lives of their community members.
Earlier this spring, Filipino veterans of World War II received long-overdue recognition for their service in the U.S. Army Forces in the Far East.
