November is Family Caregiving Month. Did you know there are 80,000 family caregivers in South Dakota and a majority of them also work while providing care for a loved one?
When AARP Vermont volunteer David Cawley retired five years ago, he suddenly had a lot more time to walk his neighborhood in Burlington. These strolls—along with time spent researching local history—led Cawley to cofound the Old East End Neighborhood Coalition, a community improvement group.
AARP’s founder Dr. Ethyl Percy Andrus once characterized AARP’s work on behalf of older Americans, “to serve, not to be served.”
There are many ways to get involved as an AARP Maryland volunteer -- staff tables, organize events, host anti-fraud workshops and greet guests at free movie nights.
Hayworth won the award through a vote on AARP Wyoming’s Facebook page, and the AARP Wyoming email distribution list. In total, Hayworth received over 760 votes, beating her closest competition by over 400 votes.
