AARP TO FOCUS ON CAREGIVER LEGISLATION DURING LOBBY DAY ON JANUARY 27
More than 1.7 million family caregivers in Virginia help their parents, spouses, aunts, uncles, and other loved ones live independently at home – where they want to be. While they wouldn’t have it any other way, family caregiving can be a big job and a little help could make a world of difference.
More and more Virginians are now faced with the possibility of running out of savings before they retire.
Nearly half of family caregivers are being called on to perform medical or nursing tasks, often with little or no explanation or guidance. Are you a family caregiver? Have you ever had a loved one come home from the hospital and no one showed you how to do the medical or nursing tasks that you were asked to perform? AARP Virginia wants to hear from you!
Virginians across the state -- or the world -- can watch U.S. Senator Mark Warner face his Republican challenger Ed Gillespie in the People's Debate tonight at 7 p.m.. Thanks to debate media partners WCVE-TV PBS and WTVR-TV CBS 6, the debate will be broadcast statewide on stations in every Virginia market.
RICHMOND _Virginia voters will have a chance to publicly ask candidates for Congress and U.S. Senate questions and the office-seekers will have the opportunity to answer those questions in a continuous open forum between now and Election Day.
More must be done to improve long-term services and supports, especially support for Family Caregivers
AARP Virginia and the League of Women Voters of Virginia have extended an invitation to the Republican and Democratic candidates for U.S Senate to participate in the statewide broadcast of The People’s Debate, scheduled for Monday, October 13, 2014, from 7-8 p.m. EDT.
