Starting October 1, Wisconsinites have a new and easier way to buy health insurance through the Wisconsin Health Insurance Marketplace. The Marketplace is for individuals and families, as well as small business owners. The Marketplace is an online “shopping mall” for health insurance and you will be able to choose your own private insurance coverage. Coverage will start as early as January 1, 2014.

AARP Wisconsin volunteer speakers are ready, willing and eager to give free presentations to community groups across the state about provisions of the Affordable Care Act that impact seniors and their families.

On September 3, the State of Wisconsin’s Office of the Commissioner of Insurance (OCI) released its analysis of selected health plan rates in the upcoming Health Insurance Marketplace.

As a result of AARP Wisconsin’s outreach to 16 counties that are part of a regional food bank’s service area, nearly 600 AARP member households are now enjoying greater food security.

Green Bay resident Libbie Miller was awarded with AARP Wisconsin’s highest honor – the “2013 Andrus Award for Community Service” – at a ceremony July 26 at the Congregation Cnesses Israel in Green Bay. The award is AARP’s most prestigious volunteer award for community service.

This week, the Walgreens Way to Well Health Tour with AARP will be rolling into Wisconsin with a stop at the Dane County Fair at the Alliant Energy Center this Thursday, Friday and Saturday, July 18-20 from 11am – 6pm each day.
