Saving for retirement in a state with a high cost of living is stressful, especially for those employed by small businesses.

Eager to do a spring cleaning of old financial statements as tax season winds down? If so, be careful when disposing of such documents.

To promote age-friendly, livable communities, AARP Texas is hosting gardening classes across the state.

As a sponsor of the South Carolina State Senior Sports Classic, the AARP state office is encouraging active lifestyles for the 50-plus crowd. More than 30 events for athletes 50 and older will take place May 16-20 on the campus of Francis Marion University in Florence—the only South Carolina site for the National Senior Games Association, a member of the U.S. Olympic Committee.

AARP South Dakota is hosting shredding events across the state this month as part of Operation Stop Scams, a series of AARP events nationwide. The goal is to help residents safely dispose of outdated documents that may contain personal information.

Thirty-five percent of Oregonians live in rural areas, and of those, 44 percent are 65 or older. Yet rural communities lag behind in offering health care, transportation and other services that make a community age-friendly.
