AARP volunteers from across the state will gather in Sioux Falls on Wednesday, Sept. 11, to help make South Dakota communities more livable for residents of all ages.
Celebrate the Latino community and groove to Tejano music at Celebrando con AARP—a yearly bash held as part of National Hispanic Heritage Month, which is Sept. 15 to Oct. 15.
AARP members have a chance to experience some of the state’s unique attractions through Fun With Purpose excursions offered by AARP Hawaii: whale watching, a chocolate farm tour, the Imiloa Astronomy Center, the Big Island’s Tropical Botanical Garden, brewpub gatherings and more.
Despite a lifelong weakness for sweet treats, Willie Vinson was shocked when she heard that the word “prediabetic” applied to her. “I was truly surprised—both at the diagnosis and at the changes I would have to make," Vinson said. "You can’t be a sugar addict anymore, that’s for sure.” She is among the AARP volunteers organizing a four-part diabetes workshop that will take place the first four Wednesdays of October in Lansing.
