AARP California conmemorará el Mes de la Herencia Hispana, del 15 de septiembre al 15 de octubre, con una serie de eventos en el área de Los Ángeles, hogar de la población latina más grande del país. El mes rinde homenaje a las contribuciones de generaciones de hispanoamericanos. El domingo, 16 de septiembre, AARP California celebrará el Día de la Independencia de México al patrocinar Family Days; días familiares con música de mariachis, talleres de arte y otros tipos de entretenimiento en LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes en el centro de Los Ángeles.

Californians will go to the polls this year to elect leaders and steer policy directions for the most populous state in the nation. AARP California is encouraging all citizens to make their voices heard in the June 5 primary elections by exercising their right to vote.

This fall Northern California saw some of the deadliest, most destructive wildfires in the state’s history, including wind-driven, ferocious blazes in Sonoma, Napa, Humboldt and Mendocino counties. Dozens were killed, and hundreds injured, including older and disabled adults who couldn’t escape in time.
