The annual program aims to make communities in Connecticut more livable for people of all ages
AARP Connecticut will be awarding grants this year to help cities, towns and nonprofits make their communities more livable.
Tim Ryan, 68, retired from his job as finance director of a Fortune 500 company more than a decade ago, living comfortably thanks to a good pension and his contributions to an employer-sponsored 401(k) plan.
AARP Connecticut is working to get the state's private sector workers enrolled in a new state retirement plan that goes into effect in 2022.
AARP CT believes that our local suppliers and vendors should reflect the diversity of our state, our volunteers and our members, especially when they are interacting directly with them. In 2016 we wanted to provide our diverse group of volunteers with training that would boost skills associated with communicating with confidence, storytelling, and dealing with difficult people/situations. That began our long standing relationship with The Bolder Company.
AARP Connecticut and AARP Rhode Island have combined forces to offer the AARP Zero Isolation program, which began as a pilot in 2020.
Andrus Award for Community Service Honors Outstanding Volunteers Age 50-Plus
AARP Connecticut has selected six recipients for its fourth Livable Communities Grant Program dedicated to fund quick-action projects in Connecticut communities that will help make immediate improvements or jumpstart long-term progress that will support residents. AARP Connecticut has funded 22 projects since the inception of the grant program in 2018.
Connecticut passed the Paid Family and Medical Leave Act in 2019, which can pay workers up to $780 a week for 12 weeks when time off of work is required. Residents can access benefits starting January 1.
