Over the past year, our team has been at the forefront of the Florida Power & Light (FPL) rate case, advocating for transparency, fairness, and affordability in the face of unprecedented proposed rate hikes. This builds on our longstanding efforts to oppose similar rate increase proposals from Duke Energy and TECO, the other electric utility companies regulated by the Florida Public Service Commission (PSC), where we fought to protect consumers from unjustified utility costs.

TALLAHASSEE – The city of Tallahassee today became the second Florida city to join the AARP Network of Age-Friendly Communities.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Family caregivers nationwide provided more than 37 billion hours of care to their parents, spouses, partners and loved ones in 2013, worth an estimated $470 billion, a report released today by the AARP Public Policy Institute states.
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Members of Congress, including U.S. Rep. Kathy Castor, D-Tampa, joined leaders from the employer, health care, venture funding, entrepreneurial, and consumer advocacy communities today for a discussion on the challenges facing—and potential solutions for—the 40 million Americans who provide care for their parents, spouses/partners, and other loved ones. The “Forum on Family Caregiving: Perspectives from Policymakers and Thought Leaders” was convened by AARP as part of its ongoing work to support family caregivers.
