LAS VEGAS, Nev. – AARP Nevada announced today that Wayne Leroy has been named to a two-year term as State President as part of the organization’s volunteer Executive Council board. Leroy is the 2005 AARP Dr. Ethel Andrus Award winner, given annually to an exemplary community-focused volunteer, and has been a member of the organization’s Executive Council since 2013.

The popular AARP Nevada Voices Podcast is back for its second year! We kick it off with an update on where AARP will focus its efforts in 2018.
In our third episode, our second in February, AARP Nevada volunteer Doug Verb joins us for an entertaining and fun discussion about his background and his volunteer work. Verb, co-founder of the Major Indoor Soccer League, and sports communications and marketing consultant, talks about his colorful career. From being a major newspaper reporter, to running sports leagues, Verb has great stories about the people and places that were a part of his career. He also discusses why he volunteers at AARP and the importance of giving back.

Did you know? The average Social Security recipient in Nevada draws a benefit of $1251 per month. However, if nothing is done to update the program, that benefit will be cut 25% in 2034.
AARP Foundation Tax-Aide is the nation’s largest free, volunteer-run tax assistance and preparation program and we’re recruiting volunteers in Nevada to assist in the 2017 tax season.
