Volunteering

Meet our volunteers and find opportunities to get involved with our outreach and community service programs.
AARP New Jersey volunteers haven't let the pandemic get them down, they're serving in different ways. One couple, Yvette and Reggie Anderson, of Jackson reworked their outreach and were honored with AARP New Jersey’s 2020 Andrus Award, the organization’s most prestigious volunteer honor.
Marion Ingram is a perfect example of what it means to be a volunteer. As a long-term AARP volunteer who has served the community for more than 15 years, Marion has contributed greatly to her county of Cape May, and to New Jersey as a whole.
AARP relies on the work of selfless volunteers who offer their time and experience to help others.
John Vajda exemplifies what it means to be a volunteer – and he isn’t new to it, either. He has been an AARP New Jersey volunteer for nine years, and before that, he spent 20 years volunteering with the Boy Scouts of America, where he served as a Scout Master, district and council committeeman and national Jamboree staff member.
Our volunteers work within Garden State communities to empower people 50 and older to choose how they live as they age. Volunteers strengthen our communities and focus on issues important to New Jersey residents like health security, financial stability and personal fulfillment.
The AARP Andrus Award for Community Service recognizes individuals who are sharing their experience, talent, and skills to enrich their communities. Recognize a deserving volunteer in New Jersey today! The nomination deadline is July 15, 2019.

Stanley Rosenthal of Manchester, NJ, was named the 2018 recipient of the AARP Andrus Award for Community Service, the non-profit organization’s most prestigious and visible volunteer recognition award. This honor was presented to Rosenthal during AARP’s annual volunteer appreciation event last month in Somerset, NJ, where hundreds of volunteers gathered to celebrate their community-wide efforts across the state.
AARP Foundation Tax Aide offers free tax preparation help to anyone with special attention to those over the age of 50 who cannot afford a tax preparation service. Since 1968, the volunteer-based program has helped nearly 50 million low- to moderate-income taxpayers. And we need you!
