For most of us these days, staying “mentally sharp” as we age is a high priority. As past co-chair of the NC Institute of Medicine’s Task Force on Alzheimer’s and Related Dementia, I heard from a lot of the state’s experts. To honor Veteran’s Day and to show appreciation to Veterans and to our military men and women who have done so much to serve and protect, AARP North Carolina is contributing a total of $4,000 to four Veterans’ organizations in the state. An official presentation will be made in Wilmington, on Saturday, November 7, at “A Celebration of Our Freedom,” a region-wide celebration for Veterans and those who serve.
