Anxious family members have often been unable to get good information or reach a relative in an Ohio long-term care facility during a prolonged lockdown caused by the coronavirus pandemic in which in-person visits are banned.
AARP is providing information and resources about COVID-19 to help older Ohioans, and their families protect themselves from the virus and prevent it from spreading to others.
In Ohio approximately 1.5 million family caregivers provided an estimated 1.27 billion hours of care — worth a staggering $16.8 billion — to their parents, spouses, partners, and friends in 2017, according to state data available in the latest report of AARP’s Valuing the Invaluable series. The complexity of family caregiving increases as medical and nursing tasks continue to enter the home, and family demographics change amidst an aging population.
Do you know ways to help keep your aging loved ones from losing money to scams and fraud? We’ll share important information that could help you keep them safe during our free webinar.
Prepare to Care workshops are one of AARP Ohio’s initiatives—along with advocating for caregiver tax credits and more home-based services—to improve conditions for family caregivers in the state.
Attend AARP’s free, two-part webinar to find out how.
Family caregiving is central to AARP’s social mission. One of the tools we have to help support caregivers is The Prepare to Care workshop. This volunteer led workshop focuses on giving caregivers a framework to actively prepare for the care their older loved ones may need
Taking care of those we love comes naturally. Today more than 1.7 million Ohioans are caregivers for their family or friend. AARP invites you to a celebration of this important role, featuring Oscar® and multi-Grammy® winning singer, songwriter and actress Regina Belle, who will share her own powerful story of strength.
