LOS ANGELES – AARP California is proud to continue the Andrus Opportunity Award Scholarship, which honors the legacy of AARP founder Dr. Ethel Percy Andrus through. Each year, the Andrus Opportunity Award Scholarship will provide $5,000 in financial assistance to a graduating senior who demonstrates academic excellence, leadership, and a strong commitment to community service. The award is funded by a $50,000 grant, which will help fund the scholarships for the next ten years, ensuring lasting support for students.

When I was a family practitioner for 36 years in a small town in Central Illinois, I never worried about being bored in retirement. I knew nearly everyone in town and had connections through out the area. I had helped create and served on the boards of nonprofit community organizations and my church. Then in order to be close to our family, my wife and I moved to Colorado, and I had lots of time on my hands.
The 2024 South Dakota Legislative Session has come to a close. The Legislature considered 258 House Bills (HB), 31 House Commemorations, 15 House Resolutions, 220 Senate Bills (SB), 18 Senate Commemorations and 17 Senate Resolutions.
