AARP's State Director Bob Gallo and State President Rosanna Marquez participated in a segment on the Friday, August 26th edition of WCIU's "You and Me in the Morning" discussing pedestrian safety and safer streets.

Smart Driver is a 6-hour course broken into two 3-hour sessions. Students are required to attend both sessions to complete the course. AARP’s Driver Safety is the nation’s first and largest course especially designed for drivers aged 50 and older. It addresses age-related physical changes that can affect our driving ability and provides compensating techniques for use in the driving environment. More importantly, the Driver Safety class helps participants identify individual problem areas, which helps to improve their own driving behavior. Completing this course and submitting your certificate to your insurance company may result in a reduction of up to 10% in your insurance premiums! Course fee: $20. AARP Driver Safety (ADS) is seeking a highly qualified person to serve as the next State Coordinator for Idaho. The current State Coordinator, Roger Wheeler, has decided to retire from the position. This is an unpaid volunteer position. Any ADS volunteer or individual outside of the program is welcomed to apply. Please refer to the attached position description for additional information.

Car-Fit is a free, educational program that offers drivers the opportunity to check how well their vehicles "fit" them. A team of trained technicians and/ or health professionals help each participant to ensure they "fit" their vehicle properly for maximum comfort and safety.

Many of Colorado's safest and most experienced drivers benefit from information that helps them adjust to an evolving array of changes in car technologies, roadway designs, traffic laws and rules, and also in themselves. Many of these Baby Boomers have no plans to retire their freedom and independence by giving up the wheel of their car anytime soon.

Motorists can sharpen their skills and possibly earn a discount on car insurance by taking an AARP Driver Safety class. You can take the Smart Driver course in a classroom or online to learn current rules of the road, such as how to navigate roundabouts, as well as defensive driving techniques, such as how to manage common age-related changes in vision, hearing and reaction time.
