According to an AARP survey, entitled “ California Dreaming…or Struggling: Gen X and Boomer Financial Security,” which reveals that for the most part Californians are not ready for retirement and it is largely due to housing related expenses. AARP California wants to help you take control of your finances. We are sharing DIY tips and tools bi-weekly on social media that can help you turn things around and begin to save. In the aftermath of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma, and Maria, charity scams are coming at us by text, email, phone and social media. Scammers look to take advantage of our desire to help victims. If you plan to donate, make sure your money is going to the right place. Check Charity Navigator (www.charitynavigator.org), Charity Watch (www.charitywatch.org) and Give.org to verify names and organizations before opening your heart – and wallet.

The city of Albuquerque Department of Senior Affairs and AARP New Mexico want to get your ideas about what makes a city “Age Friendly” at the Albuquerque Age-Friendly Solutions Forum being held Thursday, Sept. 28, at the Albuquerque Convention Center. The free event is from 8:30 a.m. to 2.15 p.m.

(Ridgeland, MS) - AARP Mississippi is inviting all veterans in the area to attend the AARP Veterans Town Hall on Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The free event will be held at the Biloxi Civic Center, 578 Howard Avenue in Biloxi. Veterans may bring one guest. Lunch will be served.
