AARP Foundation Tax-Aide is looking to expand its team of volunteers for the upcoming tax season. Approaching its 50 th year, Tax-Aide offers free tax filing help to anyone, especially those 50 and older, who can’t afford a tax preparation service. Tax-Aide volunteers make a difference in their communities by assisting many older, lower-income taxpayers who might otherwise miss out on the credits and deductions they are due.

AARP Connecticut is ramping up efforts to make sure a state law that can help private-sector workers save for retirement becomes a reality.
AARP Massachusetts will help Bay Staters reach their future financial goals with a Ready for Retirement event on Saturday, Nov. 4. The free session will run from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn, 35 Worcester Center Blvd., Worcester.

Check Charity Navigator (www.charitynavigator.org), Charity Watch (www.charitywatch.org) and Give.org to verify names and organizations before opening your heart – and wallet.
