La aprobación del Programa de Seguridad de Jubilación de Connecticut por parte de la legislatura estatal de este año ha abierto un camino para asegurar la jubilación financiera de más de 600.000 residentes de Connecticut, incluyendo más del 60 por ciento de hispanos y latinos. AARP CEO Jo Ann Jenkins offered the following statement in reaction to the Social Security Trustees report released today:

AARP and Nebraska Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP)* will present a free workshop on July 13 in Grand Island to help people prepare financially for retirement.

Right now, the Minnesota Public Utility Commission (PUC) is considering a request from Xcel Energy that could raise customer rates by nearly 10% or about $132 a year. If approved, Xcel will have raised rates on their Minnesota customers 6 years in a row. When utility bills go up it hits everyone's pocket book, especially those on fixed incomes or struggling to make ends meet.
