Here comes another one. Michael is now a Category 2 Hurricane heading for the Florida panhandle. The projected storm path takes the center of the storm right through the Midlands in South Carolina. Strong winds and a few inches of rain are currently predicted to hit the Midlands on Thursday. There is a risk for some isolated tornadoes to develop in the Midlands region.

The Goshen County AARP Community Action Group in conjunction with the Torrington Senior Center are presenting the movie, Catch Me If You Can , Oct. 19, from 12:45-2:30 p.m., at The Senior Friendship Center, located at 216 East 19 th Avenue, in Torrington.

AARP invites you to attend an evening at the Botanica in Wichita on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. This is your opportunity to find out what AARP is doing in the Wichita area and how it is connecting with residents who are 50 and older.

Arm Yourself with Knowledge at Symposium on Dementia

AARP members Judith and Lee Piper have a special place in their heart and home for older dogs who may be sick, struggling at a shelter, or without a place to stay because their human companions are having difficulty. After several years of welcoming older dogs to their 5-acre property in Arlington, they stumbled onto an idea. Let’s recruit loving families that are willing and able to care for elder canines over 8 years old AND we’ll start a non-profit, Old Dog Haven, to raise money to help pay for any medical costs that might be needed.

Military Veterans are proud of their service to their nation and rightly so. They’ve earned that right putting their lives on the line as family members stand strong during the Servicemember’s deployments and training exercises. The character of a Veteran is one who remains resolute to remain independent.

The Pennsylvania House Professional Licensure Committee is currently considering Senate Bill 780, which would offer state residents more options for health care through telemedicine.
