The Iowa State Fair in Des Moines is the largest event in the state and one of the oldest agricultural and industrial expositions in the country. AARP Iowa will be in the middle of the action for the fair’s duration, Aug. 9-19, with an interactive booth in the Varied Industries Building, where attendees can find the latest information on issues impacting the 50+, including Medicare and Social Security, and can take the pledge to vote in the upcoming mid-term election.
AARP Massachusetts announced the awardees for its 2018 Age Friendly Mini-Grants program. Seven winners across the state were awarded grants for age-friendly projects, helping communities make immediate improvements and jumpstart long-term progress to support residents of all ages. Each of the projects, which must be completed by November 30, 2018, is designed to achieve one or more of the following outcomes:

RALEIGH –Medicare contributes $19.5 million to North Carolina’s economy, equivalent to 21% of state and local government spending in the state, according to a new report from AARP. Medicare also covers 1,788,687 beneficiaries in the state. Older Americans have said Medicare is one of their top issues in the 2018 mid-term elections, and AARP North Carolina is working to encourage voter participation this election season.
