The Reveille Rotary Club of Casper has partnered with AARP Wyoming, the Ramkota Hotel & Conference Center, and the Wyoming Symphony Orchestra to provide an evening out on the town for seniors (age 60+) who prefer not to drive at night. The fee for the event is $15 and includes transportation, dinner, and admission to the concert. The Reveille Rotary Club will offer transportation to and from seniors’ homes in the Casper area to dinner and the Wyoming Symphony Orchestra evening performance Saturday, January 19, 2019.

The Paintrock FFA Chapter in Basin, Wyo. will bring its knowledge of cell phones and other mobile devices to the Big Horn Fairgrounds for free one-on-one tutoring on Dec. 15. The event, a collaboration with AARP Wyoming, called Senior High Tech, will run from from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. in the office building of the Big Horn County Fairgrounds in Basin.

The city of Laramie took another step toward becoming an age-friendly community with a new garden funded by a $20,000 AARP Community Challenge grant.

A report released by AARP shows Wyoming’s state budget could benefit from continued and increased investment in Home and Community Based Services in an effort to keep its citizens aging in their homes, and out of nursing facilities, which are often paid for by the state.

On October 2, AARP Wyoming formally congratulated the City of Laramie on becoming the 293rd community in the nation, and third in the State of Wyoming, to enroll in AARP’s network of Age Friendly Communities.

A pair of one-day care conferences for those age 50 and over will take place in Sweetwater County on Oct. 2 and 3 in Rock Springs and Green River respectively.
