Maxine Yeager is the 2018 AARP Wyoming Community Partner Award winner, having been honored by AARP Wyoming during its Volunteer Recognition Dinner in Casper, Thursday.

There’s no place like home and The Laramie County Community College Foundation (LCCC) and AARP Wyoming are teaming up in October to make Cheyenne feel a little more like home for members of the LCCC women’s basketball team.

On October 2, AARP Wyoming formally congratulated the City of Laramie on becoming the 293rd community in the nation, and third in the State of Wyoming, to enroll in AARP’s network of Age Friendly Communities.

A pair of one-day care conferences for those age 50 and over will take place in Sweetwater County on Oct. 2 and 3 in Rock Springs and Green River respectively.

Join AARP Wyoming on Monday, Aug. 20 as the Cody Council on Aging presents the movie, “See You In My Dreams,” at 1 p.m. at 613 16 th Street in Cody. The movie is free and so are the snacks.

Today, AARP announced the awardees for its 2018 AARP Community Challenge grant program, including Wyoming projects in Laramie and Rock Springs. A total of $1.3 million will be distributed to fund 129 “quick action” projects across the country, helping communities make immediate improvements and jumpstart long-term progress to support residents of all ages.

In the newest addition of AARP’s book “ Where We Live,” Jackson, Wyoming is featured for offering its citizens a new place to sit.

Communities across the nation are taking steps to become better places to live and age, according to data analyzed from the newly updated AARP Livability Index.

On the morning of April 15, a group of 10 student council members from Lingle-Fort Laramie, a high school of less than 100 students roughly 20 miles from the Nebraska border, walked six blocks to have lunch with a group of 40 clients at the Lingle Friendship Center.

Student Council and Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) members from Lingle-Fort Laramie High Schools will share their knowledge of smartphones with clients of the Lingle Senior Center, April 16 and 17. Lunch at the Senior Center is free April 16 and 17, thanks to AARP Wyoming.
