AARP Iowa Lobby Day News Conference Set for Feb. 25th

As America celebrates the 50th Anniversary of the Voting Rights Act (VRA), millions of eyes are on the hard-fought battle that was finally won in 1965.
AARP Iowa today released findings of a statewide survey highlighting Iowa family caregiver experiences, challenges and needs. The survey recognizes and supports the important role an estimated 540,000 Iowans play throughout the year as family caregivers. Their unpaid work and assistance makes it possible for their parents, spouses or other loved ones to live independently at home.
In case you’re not familiar with the term, it’s commonly used in social media to describe some sort of post about one’s past. It usually involves sharing of a cherished photo or story about a meaningful event from someone’s personal history.
AARP Iowa is proud to work with LeadingAge Iowa for the Des Moines-area screening of the Glen Campbell documentary, I'll Be Me, on February 27 at Hope Lutheran Church. This special evening includes a conversation with the Campbell family, moderated by the film's director, James Keach, and a brief Campbell Family concert.
Recognizing the link between good dental health and a person’s overall health, the Healthiest State Initiative, a privately led, publicly endorsed effort to improve the well being of Iowans, is seeking to increase the number of Iowans who have visited the dentist in the past 12 months and improve access to dental care for low-income older Iowans.
Although she retired from a full-time accounting job in 2013, Iowa Tax-Aide volunteer Kay Vignovich says she has never been busier, and she wouldn’t have it any other way, especially during tax season.
