It turns out it’s not just what you do on the online, but your life experiences off-line that can make you an easy target for scammers.

Few Iowans take time out of their busy lives to think about hunger in their state, yet nearly 400,000 Iowans – including nearly 150,000 age 50 and older – are considered food insecure, meaning they lack the ability to acquire nutritionally adequate and safe foods in socially acceptable ways.
Des Moines – AARP volunteers, state leaders, and long-term care advocates urged lawmakers to support the strongest version of legislation to improve protections for families against the devastating problem of financial exploitation of elders in Iowa.
More than 10,000 Iowans from across the state joined AARP Iowa State Director Kent Sovern, Advocacy Director Anthony Carroll, and AARP telecommunications policy advocate Coralette Hannon for a discussion on emerging issues in the Iowa State Legislature, including a new proposal that would change Iowa's existing laws for oversight of landline telephone service.

AARP welcomed members of the Iowa House and Senate back to the 85th General Assembly with delivery of its new state priorities executive summary. Key areas of focus for 2014 are advocating for more affordable, accessible and adequate health care and long term care, promoting financial security for Iowans and keeping utility costs affordable.
Dec. 13, 2013 -- AARP is pleased federal officials and Iowa state officials have reached an agreement to provide health coverage to Iowa’s over 100,000 adults, including over 17,000 Iowans between age 50 and 64, many of whom are working poor who lack coverage.
